Agile Cold Storage to Build in Macon; New Facility to Support Southeast Market
ATLANTA – June 13, 2022 – Atlanta, GA-based Agile Cold Storage, LLC announces the start of construction on their third cold storage warehouse in Macon, Georgia. Phase I of the 275,000 square feet multi-temp facility is targeted to open Summer of 2023. Over the next three years, Agile plans to invest over $150 million in the construction of its new facility to support the domestic and export markets.
“As a Georgia-based company, we are very excited to make these investments and to be able to create jobs in our home state. When we looked around the Southeast for the ideal location for our next facility, Macon really stood out because of its strategic location near the port of Savannah and along major interstates, as well as the growing population in the Southeast,” said Agile President and CEO Don Schoenl. “We appreciate Macon-Bibb County and the State’s interest in helping us grow our footprint, as this will be our third facility in Georgia.”
“It’s great to see Georgia-based companies reinvest in their community and create more opportunities for people,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “Agile’s investment here is a testament to Georgia’s dominance in the poultry industry and our top-notch logistics network, and I am grateful for their partnership as they ramp up their operations.”
Agile’s state-of-the-art facility will use automation where possible to make the work environment safer and more efficient for its team members. Agile’s experienced management team and best practices will allow for reliable, efficient, and flexible receiving, storage, import/export, distribution, and shipping of its customers’ products. The facility will include frozen and deep-freeze temperature zones to ensure products are blast frozen and maintained at the highest levels of quality in accordance with industry specifications and government regulations.
“Agile will make another great addition to the Macon-Bibb County industrial base and will further assist the supply chain network specific to the poultry industry. We welcome Agile to Macon and look forward to them becoming a great community partner,” says Robby Fountain, Chairman of the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority.
The state’s major cold storage investment and growth – combined with the extensive air, rail, port, and interstate logistics network – continues to provide a competitive advantage for companies located in Georgia.
